Cal Poly Humboldt will come alive with innovation, creativity, and discovery during the 13th annual ideaFest on Friday, May 1, as hundreds of students, faculty, and staff showcase the projects they’re most proud of.

The Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Dance, Music & Theatre, in collaboration with Cal Poly Presents, will celebrate a major milestone this spring with the 40th anniversary performance of the Humboldt Calypso Band, founded by Music Professor Eugene Novotney in the spring of 1986.

A $1 million grant from the Campbell Foundation is funding a first-of-its-kind study aimed at helping cannabis farmers reduce costs, lower environmental impacts, and produce cleaner, more sustainable products.

In a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, scholars in Cal Poly Humboldt’s Pelican Bay Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication program interacted directly with renowned social justice activist, scholar, and author Angela Davis.

Jenkins Hall has always been a home for making. When it opened in 1950, the building buzzed with the energy of Humboldt’s Industrial Arts program, a legacy shaped by faculty member Horace “Pop” Jenkins.
