With the end of the semester near, students from the Waste Reduction and Resources Awareness Program are partnering with local thrift stores to help students as they move out of residence halls.
From May 11 to 14, WRRAP students will operate donation and waste separation stations near the College Creek, Creekview, and the Hill residence halls during move-out week to assist HSU students in recycling, composting, and donating unwanted items from their dorms.
While many items will end up in thrift stores, used office supplies will be given to the campus’s Reusable Office Supply Exchange and unopened, non-perishable food will be given to HSU’s food pantry or the Humboldt County Food Bank. Every year, Donation Dash keeps an estimated 2,500 pounds of waste out of the landfill.
Donation Dash Hours:
Wednesday May 11: 9am-10 pm
Thursday May 12: 9am-10 pm
Friday May 13: 8am-12 am
Saturday May 14: 8 am-1 pm
