Extended Closure for Memorial Day Weekend

The Humboldt State University campus will be closed for holidays and furloughs on Friday, May 28, Monday, May 31, and Tuesday, June 1. The extended, five-day closure spans Memorial Day weekend.

Monday, May 31, is Memorial Day; Friday, May 28, and Tuesday, June 1, are HSU campus closure days due to unpaid employee furloughs.

Only a limited number of summer session Extended Education classes will be held on Tuesday, June 1. Students enrolled in summer session should plan to attend classes unless they have been notified otherwise.

Most campus buildings will be locked and the Library, computer labs, and academic and business offices will be closed. Students living in the residence halls will not be affected, but the Housing offices will be closed during this five-day period.

No parking permits and no meter payments will be required from 10 p.m. Thursday, May 27, until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2. Colored curb parking such as disabled stalls and red curbs are enforced 24 hours a day.

Anyone normally authorized to enter locked campus buildings (e.g., staff and faculty members visiting their personal offices) should bring their keys or key cards to enter buildings on these closure dates. Doors found propped open will be closed and locked.

The University Police Department will be on duty, but will not open buildings or study spaces to students or the general public on Friday, Monday, or Tuesday.

Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30, will be treated as typical weekend days, and campus buildings normally open on summer semester weekends will be open on those days for authorized activities.
