“Donating blood takes about an hour and is safe and nearly painless,” says HSU President Rollin Richmond. “Since our community depends on regular donations, I encourage all faculty and staff to sign up today.”
One donation can provide blood for three patients and has the potential to become multiple products. The most frequent users of blood donations are those with traumas, cancer, leukemia, anemia, heart, liver and gastrointestinal disease.
To determine if you are eligible, you will be asked a series of questions about your health and travel history. If you were born, lived in or have traveled to certain countries, you may not be eligible to donate.
The BloodMobile will operate on the first and third Monday of the month with the exception of Feb. 18 (President’s Day) and April 1 (Cesar Chavez Day). For more information about blood donation, visit the Northern California Blood Bank’s website at nccbb.org, or give them a call at 707-443-8004.
