Over 80 employers and 40 community service organizations will be specifically looking to connect with students regarding summer jobs, seasonal positions, internships, permanent employment, service learning placements, and volunteer opportunities.
“This event only happens once a year, and we’re encouraging students to take full advantage of it,” said Cherry Ouellette, Career Expo Coordinator.
Ouellette said there are tips on how to prepare for the event, as well as an updated list of participating employers available at www.humboldt.edu/~career. As the event approaches, the Career Center will be offering employer presentations and interviews, as well as workshops in resumé writing and interviewing.
The Career Center is also encouraging students to register on Springboard, their new online job search and listing service (http://www.humboldt.edu/~career/springboardreg.html), by February 1. Students who meet this deadline for registering, and who attend the Career Expo and Volunteer Fair on February 9, will be eligible to win a new Apple iPod 30G.
This Career Expo and Volunteer Fair is co-sponsored by the Career Center and the Service Learning Center.
“It’s important to recognize that there are a whole range of career-related experiences available to students, from service learning placements to internships to summer jobs. Now is the ideal time to explore these opportunities,” said Mike Cipra, who is coordinating the Volunteer Fair for this collaborative event.
