Available year-round in ACAC, the Career Clothing Closet offers students a variety of professional clothing, jewelry, scarves, shoes, and coats donated by Humboldt State staff and faculty, and community members.
However, in preparation for the Career & Volunteer Expo, held Thursday, Feb. 13, 12-4 p.m. in the West Gym, ACAC is hosting a “boutique” Career Clothing Closet Monday, Feb.3 through Friday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Gist Hall 120. Clothing is FREE to all students and it is theirs to keep.
Last year, more than 400 students visited the closet and found clothes to help them feel confident when meeting with employers or attending their interviews.
Established in 2006, the expo gives students a chance to meet with more than 100 employers about summer jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, and full-time career positions.
“Students say dressing for success made a world of difference in helping them feel more confident and ready to meet employers at the expo,” says Kathy Thornhill, director of the Academic & Career Advising Center (ACAC), which offers career services throughout the year to help prepare students find jobs during school and after graduation. “It’s exciting to provide students the opportunities to make connections with potential employers and to help them on their professional journey.”
