Get Immediate Notifications of Campus Emergencies with HSU Alert

Humboldt County is no stranger to disaster. During an emergency, it’s vital to have accurate, current information. Sign up today for HSU Alert, a new emergency text messaging notification system to get instant updates on any campus emergencies.

HSU Alert is the University’s new emergency text messaging notification system. In the event of a major emergency affecting the HSU campus, everyone who has registered a cell phone number in myHumboldt will receive a text message on their cell phone. The same information will be sent by email to their humboldt.edu email address. The notification will include basic information about the nature of the emergency and instructions on how to obtain further information and/or action needed.

Campus users asked to register for the service by entering their cell phone number in PeopleSoft via myHumboldt. Cell phone numbers previously registered in Account Center have been moved into PeopleSoft, and users will be asked to verify that their number is accurate later in March.

The new HSU Alert will push information to the campus community and alert individuals that an emergency condition exists that threatens their health and safety; and to provide protective action recommendations. When an emergency incident arises that affects the entire campus, you can receive emergency alerts via text messages to your cell phone by registering your number with HSU Alert.

Campus email addresses for all active employees and students have also been transferred into HSU Alert, although text messaging is now the primary notification distribution system. The only exceptions are Extended Education students, who will only be notified if they register their cell phone number; this process will also enroll them in email notifications.
