This “Faculty Artist Series” concert will feature works spanning 25 years of Larsen’s artistic career, including trios for both violin and viola with cello and piano, a work for four-hand piano, one for solo guitar, another for tuba and piano, songs for voice and piano, and a trio for clarinet, violin, and piano.

For the concert, Larsen will be joined by HSU music faculty and community artists including Terrie Baune, John Chernoff, Karen Davy, Elisabeth Harrington, Carol Jacobson, Nick Lambson, Ryan McGaughey, Daniela Mineva, Cindy Moyer, Virginia Ryder, Jina Silva, Fred Tempas, and Garrick Woods.

Larsen’s residency also includes a “Meet the Composer” lecture on Friday, Oct. 7 and an HSU Student Concert of Larsen’s music spanning a 30-year period of her creative life, on Sunday, Oct. 9.

HSU students will have the opportunity to learn from the accomplished artist in a masterclass for student composers on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend the masterclass, however advanced musical training will be necessary to appreciate the class.

Over the course of Libby Larsen’s week-long residency at HSU, individual students and student ensembles will have the opportunity to prepare their performances with coaching by the composer herself.
