Of the 606 institutions surveyed, the University ranked #59. HSU has made the list several times in the last few years since Washington Monthly began ranking four-year colleges in 2005.
Washington Monthly has ranked colleges based on their contributions to society. According to editors of the nonprofit magazine, “We rank master’s universities—four-year institutions that award a significant number of master’s degrees but few or no doctoral degrees—based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service.”
HSU was also named #81 in the Sierra Club magazine’s annual list of eco-savvy colleges. Earning top marks in curriculum and waste management, the University is among 282 best Cool Schools for sustainability and environmental conservation.
HSU recently made high rankings on lists by Forbes, Princeton Review and the Peace Corps, as well.
