HSU Back-to-School

Humboldt State is getting ready to welcome back students for the Fall Semester.

An estimated 8,600 students are expected on campus August 24 for the first day of classes. The incoming freshmen class is 1,429 students, and initial demographic data shows that 64 percent of them are female, 39 percent hail from Los Angeles, and 44 percent identify as Latino/a.

Fall Kick-Off
Monday, August 17, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
HSU President Lisa Rossbacher will deliver remarks to HSU employees and community guests in the Van Duzer Theatre. A focus will be the new 5-year strategic plan, which was completed in the spring.

Move-In Day
Tuesday, August 18
Most new freshmen move-in to the HSU Residence Halls from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Transfer and returning students move-in after 6 p.m. that same day through Monday, August 24.

Freshmen Welcome
Wednesday, August 19, 11:15 a.m. to noon
A welcome event for the Class of 2019 in Redwood Bowl.

Campus & Neighborhood Fair
Thursday, August 20, 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
Freshmen and their families learn about campus and community organizations that will have tables on the UC Quad.

Taste of Arcata
Saturday, August 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Arcata Main Street will host a tour of the Farmer’s Market and Arcata businesses for about 500 students living in the Residence Halls. Following the tour, local restaurants will provide students with a free pizza lunch at the Hotel Arcata.
