HSU Celebrates 'New Century' Class in Three Commencement Ceremonies

Humboldt State’s ‘New Century’ Class received their diplomas in three ceremonies in Redwood Bowl, on the HSU Campus. More than 1,500 graduates and their families packed the arena, as President Rollin Richmond, who will be retiring at the conclusion of the 2013/14 Academic Year, delivered commencement addresses to all three colleges.

Rep. Jared Huffman addressed the College of Natural Resources ceremony. During the College of Professional Studies ceremony, an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters was presented to Herrmann Spetzler for his longtime contributions to rural health care in California. The United States Postal Service offered a special commemorative stamp and pictorial postmark in recognition of HSU’s yearlong Centennial Celebration, which came to a close with the day’s events.
