Chinese undergraduates as regular HSU students who will reside here for two years, participating in a unique dual degree program. Coming from Xi’an, the ancient capital of China, they are the first group representing a collaborative venture between Humboldt State University and Xi’an International Studies University (XISU), in Xi'an, China's ancient capital.

At the fourth International Conference of Alexander Von Humboldt in June of last year in China, HSU President Rollin Richmond signed an agreement with President Hu of XISU to establish Humboldt College, a special academic unit in China offering a comprehensive, American-style academic experience and facilitating multi-level coordination of diverse institutional projects.

Through a highly competitive process, the first 16 students were admitted to Humboldt College and taught a United States college curriculum for the first year, in preparation for their studies at HSU for their second and third year. The group will return to Xi’an in their fourth year, and, if they complete the program, they will receive two degrees, one from HSU and one from XISU.

The partnership is a breakthrough in international collaboration for both HSU and XISU, establishing a bridge between China and the United States to provide exceptional opportunities to students in both nations.
