A business finance major at HSU, McNulty was named an Inaugural Scholar and will join college students from across the country at the swearing-in of the 44th President of the United States, the nation’s first black chief executive.
The Inaugural Conference chose McNulty for her “demonstrated leadership skills” and the “special character” she exhibited while attending the National Young Leaders Conference, which hosts high school sophomores, juniors and seniors in Washington, D.C. to study government and meet with national political leaders and policymakers. The youth conclave is sponsored by the Congressional Youth Leadership Council, an independent educational organization founded in 1985 to foster student leadership.
As an Inaugural Scholar, McNulty will not only attend the swearing-in ceremonies in front of the East Portico of the Capitol Building and the subsequent Inaugural Parade on Pennsylvania Avenue, but also attend a black tie Gala Inaugural Ball and meet with current and former White House officials, congressional staff and political experts.
McNulty will be in Washington five days and said she is “incredibly excited.”
