Humboldt State Named Top Vegan Friendly School

Humboldt State has been named a top vegan friendly school by peta2, the youth animal rights program at PETA.

HSU was one of 10 schools its size to make the group’s 2012 Most Vegan-Friendly Colleges in the U.S. list. Other schools to earn the title were Oberlin College, Smith College and Northwestern University.

Schools were ranked on a number of factors, including the quality and quantity of on-campus vegan options and the receptiveness and creativity of dining staff.

HSU was ranked number 7 out of ten for making “vegan meal options an ingrained part of its culture.” Menu highlights include the sweet and sour tempeh, vegan curried tofu and vegan soy taquitos, peta2 staff said.

HSU students can choose from a variety of vegetarian and vegan-friendly dining options at the J, the Depot and College Creek Marketplace. For more information on HSU dining options, visit humboldt.edu/housing/dining.
