Wruck is currently Vice President for University Advancement at St. Cloud State University, which is the largest of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities.
In a message to the campus, HSU President Rollin Richmond said that Wruck brings extensive knowledge and experience that will benefit the campus. “The Search Committee and those who met Craig during his campus visit spoke highly of his qualifications and, perhaps more importantly, his clear dedication to higher education,” Richmond wrote. “I believe he will be an excellent fit at Humboldt State.”
Wruck has served in many roles throughout his 30-year career at universities and foundations, and he is frequently asked to give talks on charitable giving topics.
Wruck has particularly strong experience in planned giving. He is the author of a book titled Planned Giving in a Nutshell, a founding member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the newsletter Planned Giving Today, and serves on the Editorial Review Committee of The Journal of Gift Planning. He is the past president of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and has served as a member of its board of directors and chairs its government relations committee.
His many awards include a Distinguished Service Award by the National Committee on Planned Giving. He has also been honored with the David M. Donaldson Distinguished Service Award presented by the Planned Giving Group of New England and the Clinton A. Schroder Award from the Minnesota Planned Giving Council.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to join Humboldt State,” Wruck said. “Private support has become an indispensable component of public higher education. The essential elements required to earn strong public support are alumni loyalty, a supportive campus spirit, and a strategic approach to advancement work. Fortunately these essentials are in abundance at HSU. I look forward to helping forge new partnerships for the University and building a best in class university advancement program.”
Wruck holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Utah. He and his wife Liz, who is a Guardian ad Litem, have two adult sons.
