Danielle Musumeci of PG&E’s San Francisco office presented the rebate check to College Creek project director Kristi Janowski during a campus visit.
The utility recognized HSU for its participation in the company’s non-residential, new construction energy efficiency program.
PG&E stated in a letter to Tim Moxon, Humboldt State’s senior director of Plant Operations, “We recognize that through your conscientious design efforts, you are contributing to a more efficient use of our scarce natural resources. You can be proud that your design will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ultimately help combat global warming.”
PG&E projects College Creek’s annual electrical power savings at 33,392 kWh and 4,676 therms.
Moxon said the efficiency incentives are a statewide initiative through a partnership among California State University, the University of California, California Community Colleges and investor-owned California utilities. They spur energy-efficient designs, equipment upgrades and retrofits to existing campus buildings, along with energy-saving new school construction and modernization. Eligible projects include lighting systems, PC power management, laboratory fume-hood retrofits, premium-efficient motors and package HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) units, among others.
