HSU Ranks No. 9 for Peace Corps Volunteers

Humboldt State University ranked No. 9 among medium schools on the agency’s 2016 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list. There are 25 HSU Alumni currently volunteering worldwide.

Humboldt has ranked on the Top Colleges list for the last 11 years. This year also marks the second year the school has broken the top 10 rankings. HSU is the only CSU campus among medium-sized schools to rank in the top 25.

Alumni from more than 3,000 colleges and universities nationwide have served in the Peace Corps since the agency’s founding. Historically, more than 822 Humboldt alumni have traveled abroad to serve as volunteers since 1961.

This year’s rankings follow a 40-year high in applications for the Peace Corps in 2015.

Since President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 220,000 Americans of all ages have served in 141 countries worldwide.
