The exhibit highlights the skills gained through studies in the HSU Art Department. “All graduating students get a chance to pick something to exhibit and to see their work in a show viewed by teachers, family and others who have helped along the way,” says Art Department Assistant Mary Jean Watcher. Although content and style varies, a common element for each of the exhibiting artists is that they are guided and mentored throughout the process of developing their art while they are at HSU. As a culminating event for art students, the exhibit helps students take the next step in their careers as emerging artists. “It helps prepare you for the real world,” says Sadie Samuels who is finishing her studies this semester.

The Reese Bullen Gallery, located inside HSU’s Art Building at the intersection of B St. and Laurel St. in Arcata, is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between the hours of 12-5 p.m., Thursday 12-7 p.m., Friday 12-5 p.m., and Saturday 10-2 p.m. Admission is free.
