The annual ceremony recognizes the accomplishments of HSU’s newer faculty members and one outstanding graduate student. The awards are named after former HSU President Alistair McCrone, who led the university from 1974 to 2002.
Faculty members are nominated by their colleagues for their exceptional contributions to their field. First year students enrolled in an HSU graduate program for less than one academic year are eligible for the fellowship.
The recipients of this year’s McCrone Promising Faculty Scholars and Graduate Fellowship Awards are:
2014 Faculty Scholars
Christopher Harmon, Chemistry
Sarah Ray, Environmental Studies
Laurie Richmond, Environmental Science & Management
2014-15 Graduate Fellowship
Jessica Vermeer, Environmental Systems, Geology (Advisor: Dr. Mark Hemphill-Haley)
