Improved Facilities Welcome Students

HSU students will take advantage of upgraded facilities across campus. Here’s a look at the work that happened during summer.

Nelson Hall East – Is currently under construction to repair and improve access for students involved with the Centers for Excellence, Retention and Inclusive Student Success and the Residential Academic Mentoring Program.

Nelson Hall West - The University Advancement Division moved into updated office space on the first and second floors of Nelson Hall West. The moved allowed for various departments in Advancement to be located in one area.

Science A, Room 564 — This widely-used lecture hall has been upgraded with new flooring, seating, windows shades, instruction station and ADA upgrades. The campus community will benefit from new multi-media and presentation equipment.

University Center – Following a thorough cleaning of the building exterior and handrail repairs, new paint has been applied to the University Center and campus clock tower.

Redwood Bowl East Bleachers - Structural repairs were completed on the east bleachers, including the replacement of beams, posts and sheer walls.

Gist Hall – Two student support centers, RISS and the Career & Advising Center, have been combined in one location on the first floor of Gist Hall enhancing the link between students’ academic progress and the post-degree plans.

Areas Receiving Touch-Ups and Routine Maintenance Include:

Lower Library – The HSU Testing Center has been enhanced to create a computer-based test site to meet test accommodation needs for students with disabilities, provide entrance and exit exams for the general student population and provide professional and licensure exams for the community.

Wildlife & Fish Hatchery – Renovations here include a thorough cleaning of the building exterior, maintenance and repair of exterior walls, plus new paint.
