The annual in-person, free open house, Fall Preview offers first-time and transfer students a chance to explore academic programs and student life while getting a feel for the campus. Throughout the day, visitors can directly connect with faculty, staff, and current students as they consider whether Humboldt is the right fit for them.
“Choosing a university is a significant decision, and a campus visit can make that process feel tangible,” says Chelsea Mooney, director of Admissions. “We want students and their families to leave Fall Preview with a genuine sense of campus programs, resources and what it means to be part of the Humboldt community.”
Prospective students who apply by Thursday, Oct. 15 will be able to receive their admissions decision at Fall Preview when they meet with Admissions staff.
Students who haven’t applied yet are encouraged to bring their unofficial transcripts and meet with an admissions counselor to help complete their application.
High schools that want to sign-up for Fall Preview on behalf of their students and individual prospective students should register by Monday, Oct. 12.
Fall Preview Schedule
Check-In and Continental Breakfast
9 a.m.
Balabanis Quad
Visitors can check in at the Balabanis Art Quad in front of the Van Duzer Theatre to receive their name badges and schedules. An early campus tour will depart at 9:15 a.m.
Welcome
10:15 a.m.
Van Duzer Theatre
The Fall Preview welcome program will begin in the Van Duzer Theatre.
Enrollment Sessions
11 a.m.
Nelson Hall East 102 Goodwin Forum
Separate sessions for first-time and transfer students will guide participants through the enrollment process.
Representatives from Admissions and Financial Aid will explain application requirements and funding opportunities. Housing staff will discuss options for living on campus, while transfer students can learn about articulation agreements and the Transfer Success Pathway program.
Lunch and Resource Fairs
Noon
Gutswurrak Student Activities Center, 2nd Floor, Kate Buchanan Room and Art Quad
Visitors can pick up lunch and meet faculty at the Academic & Student Support Resources Fair. The concurrent Club Fair will introduce prospective students to student-run organizations and campus involvement.
Student Panel
1 p.m.
Nelson Hall East 102 Goodwin Forum
Current students will answer questions and share their perspectives on classes and daily life at Humboldt.
Academic Program Open Houses
2 p.m.
Campus wide
Academic departments across campus will welcome visitors from 2 to 3 p.m. Prospective students can learn about degree programs in the spaces where teaching and hands-on work take place.
Tours and Drop-In Support
Campus tours will depart hourly beginning at 11 a.m., with Spanish-language tours offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Visitors may also tour residence halls for first-year and transfer students.
Admissions staff will be available for individual meetings from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students at any stage of the application process can also receive assistance through the Cal State Application Preparation Workshop.
