Karp Appointed Interim Director of HSU’s Sponsored Programs Foundation

Steve Karp has been appointed Interim Director of Sponsored Programs Foundation at Humboldt State University.

Karp has worked with Humboldt State for the last five years as Associate Director for the Northern California Lead Small Business Development Center, which is one of the largest grants under the Sponsored Programs Foundation.

Prior to coming to HSU, Karp served as Vice-President of Finance for Nuasis; a Voip software company in Silicon Valley where he helped raise over $40 million dollars in venture capital funding.

Karp has held management positions in the areas of financial analysis and treasury at Synopsys, Apple Computer, Rainmaker Systems, Viacom and Santa Barbara Research Center. Steve holds a Masters Degree in Systems Management from University of Southern California and Bachelors in Economics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

During the month of January, Karp will be transitioning from his position with SBDC into the Director position. Starting in February, he will work full time for SPF. Denice Helwig will continue to provide general oversight for SPF while ongoing restructuring of the foundation continues.
