The Lumberjacks earned the conference's automatic bid and the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Division II West Regional after a historic run through the CCAA Women's Soccer Tournament, presented by FloCollege. Humboldt became the first No. 5 seed in tournament history to win the championship, defeating the top seeds—No. 4 Cal State San Bernardino, No. 1 Cal Poly Pomona, and No. 2 Chico State—without conceding a single goal.
Humboldt will face a familiar opponent in the opening round, taking on No. 2 seed in the West Region and site host Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. The winner will advance to play either Simon Fraser or Western Oregon on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m.
The Lumberjacks enter the regional with an 8-5-8 overall record and a shutout streak of 311 consecutive minutes. Goalkeepers Ariana Beddoes and Carson Thomson-Terrel have anchored a defensive unit that leads the CCAA in both save percentage (.833) and shutout percentage (.619). Thomson-Terrel tops the conference individually with an .818 save percentage.
Offensively, Karsyn Ross leads the team with four goals, while Heidie Muñoz has been the creative spark with a team-best four assists.
This marks Cal Poly Humboldt's second NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, and its first since 1996.
Meanwhile, Cal Poly Pomona (14-2-3) earned an at-large bid after claiming its third straight CCAA regular-season title. The Broncos are the defending NCAA Division II national champions and will be making their seventh NCAA postseason appearance.
The West Regional's other half will be hosted by Western Washington, the No. 1 seed, who earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of Point Loma and Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
