Marine Lab Offers Summer Program

Registration has begun for the HSU Marine Lab’s summer children’s program. This year’s program with the theme of Life Under the Sea will be offered for those students entering the 1st through 4th or 5th through 8th grade in the fall. There will be two sessions at the Marine Laboratory from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The first session is for those students in 1st – 4th grades and starts Monday, July 12 and ends on Friday, July 16. Session two for students in 5th – 8th grades starts Monday July 26th and ends Friday July 30th. Fee per session is $70. Pre registration is required. This summer’s program will feature study of the Tsurai Village, the Yurok people and their maritime activities, Life under the sea, a tour of the HSU Fish Hatchery and Vertebrate Museum, the United States Coast Guard Station and Weather station in Eureka and a trip to Patrick’s Point State Park.

Each day will include a field trip, lecture and lab time. Sessions will begin and end at the Marine Laboratory in Trinidad on July 12, 13 for session one and July 26 and 27 for session two. Meeting locations for the other dates will be announced later.
