Cal Poly Humboldt’s Men's Rugby team is all set to defend its national title at the National Collegiate Rugby Small College Championships.

The team won both their games at the regionals held in Vallejo, Calif., last weekend and is determined to continue its winning streak.

“On behalf of the Cal Poly Humboldt men's rugby coaching staff, I would like to thank all alumni, family, and friends for their continued support as we once again take this journey to compete on the national stage and defend our 2022 National Championship. This TEAM of student-athletes has truly dedicated themselves to the fitness work rate, discipline, and commitment to each other, on and off the field. Go Jacks!” says Head Coach Greg Pargee.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, the team won (22-11) against Colorado School of Mines, and then on Sunday, Nov. 19, they won (71-3) against Western Oregon. This impressive performance in the regionals has boosted the team's morale, and they are now preparing to travel to Houston, Texas, to play against Wayne State on Friday, Dec. 8. Humboldt previously beat Wayne State in the final game to win the championship last year.

If the team wins the game against Wayne State on Friday, they will play for the title on Sunday, Dec. 10. The Men's Rugby team is confident and excited to defend their title.
