The following announcement is from Jenn Capps, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

I am very pleased to announce that after a national search Dr. Cindy Bumgarner has been selected as Cal Poly Humboldt’s next Dean for the College of Extended Education and Global Engagement (CEEGE). Dr. Bumgarner's appointment is effective July 1, 2023.

Throughout her career, Dr. Bumgarner has provided leadership that focuses on the creative construction of cutting-edge, inclusive professional development and academic opportunities throughout institutions of higher education. This has included executing strategic enrollment plans and dual degree programs, building faculty-led study abroad programs, increasing staff diversity equity and inclusion professional development opportunities, and coordinating reaffirmation processes in her role as UC Berkeley’s WSCUC Accreditation Liaison Officer.

I am really excited to welcome Dr. Bumgarner to Cal Poly Humboldt and the Division of Academic Affairs leadership team. Her extensive experience in a broad range of innovative academic areas coupled with her strategic mindset will be a great asset to CEEGE and the Humboldt community.

“I am thrilled to be joining the vibrant Cal Poly Humboldt community, particularly as it is taking on the inspiring work of reimagining itself. I am both excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve students and the community, and look forward to the many collaborative partnerships I hope to forge,” she says.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Cyril Oberlander for his leadership over the past two years as Interim Dean of the CEEGE while also serving in his ongoing role as Dean of the Library. Additionally, thank you to the search committee and in particular Deserie Donae who served as the search committee chair.

Sincerely,
