The School of Business earned the achievement through the IMA’s Endorsement of Higher Education initiative, which recognizes programs that meet high educational standards, in turn enabling students to pursue and earn the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential.
IMA’s globally-recognized CMA program assesses advanced accounting and financial management knowledge in four areas: financial planning, analysis, control, and decision support. Each area is critical in meeting the changing needs of business, and therefore, essential learning for students of accounting and finance.
“Students studying accounting and finance receive rigorous training and preparation for what they’ll encounter when they enter the job market. The endorsement by the IMA is an example of the faculty’s commitment to HSU students, plus it underscores the breadth of material we cover in the accounting and finance program,” says Joshua Zender, assistant professor in the School of Business.
To qualify for full endorsement by the IMA, schools must meet the following criteria:
(1) the program must substantially cover the CMA exam content;
(2) the program must have adequate faculty resources to deliver this content;
(3) the program must be accredited by a recognized accreditation organization; and
(4) a faculty member must be designated as an IMA Campus Advocate.
HSU joins other top-ranked business programs with this endorsement, such as Penn State, Rutger’s, Michigan State University, St. John’s University, and many other respected programs. As a member of this exclusive group, the School of Business can offer new opportunities for scholarship, conference events, case study competitions, and research to HSU students.
