Associated Students hosts a voter registration drive on Thursday, Oct. 18 in the South Lounge of the University Center. From noon until 2 p.m. students are encouraged to stop by the lounge, grab some free pizza, register to vote if they haven’t done so already, and learn about the candidates and initiatives that will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot.
According to Jesse Thomas Hoskins, the California State Student Association representative for Associated Students at HSU, the event will draw particular attention to Proposition 30. The proposition is a constitutional amendment to levy a temporary tax to fund education and guarantee local public safety funding. More information about Prop. 30 is available at the Cal State Chancellor’s Office website (PDF). “Associated Students wishes to promote Prop 30 as well as encourage students to register for the election, since it is a very crucial election for Higher Education in California,” Hoskins says.
