Department of Biological Sciences Chair John Reiss and Biological Sciences Professor Mark Wilson have been named Fellows in the Life Sciences 2011-2012 by the National Academies in Education.
Barbara A. Schaal, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences, said the two were honored for their contributions to last September’s National Academies Regional Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education in Biology, held at Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA. Schaal said Reiss and Wilson’s participation placed Humboldt State “in the forefront of improvement of undergraduate education that is so essential for preparing both future scientists and scientifically-literate citizens.”
