Smoke was reported in the University Center around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31. University Police and Arcata Fire Volunteers responded to the reports and immediately evacuated the building.
No injuries were reported and officials were able to determine that the smoke originated from a faulty light fixture on the buildings third floor. Officials determined the University Center was safe to occupy, and the building was reopened around 3:50 p.m.
