More than 2,200 graduates and credential recipients were honored at this year’s Commencement exercises, which began at 8:30 a.m. with the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Graduates of the College of Professional Studies were honored at noon, followed by the College of Natural Resources and Sciences at 3:30 p.m.
Each ceremony was held in Redwood Bowl.
Family, friends and guests were encouraged to arrive early for their respective events. Continuous shuttle service was available from the two main campus parking lots (Harpst and Rossow streets and 14th and Union) to transport attendees to the bowl. Individuals with disabilities and those requiring wheelchairs had access to parking close to the shuttle stops.
Each ceremony began with Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, performed by the HSU Brass Choir, and conclude with Verdi’s Triumphal March from Aida or Light and Truth (the HSU motto) by Dr. Valgene Phillips, arranged by HSU Professor Gilbert Cline.
