Cal Poly Humboldt has resources to help students excel through finals this year, including health and wellbeing services, study prep, and more. Consider these support services to reduce stress and finish the semester right.

Staying mentally and physically healthy is important. A simple forest bath in the Arcata Community Forest right behind campus is an easy way to boost your mood and get some exercise.

Making sure you’re eating enough is important, too. The OhSNAP! Food Pantry is open to all students, free of charge, to get nutritious ingredients and healthful snacks. Visit the Oh SNAP! website for more information.

Lack of sleep correlates with increased stress levels and a reduction in memory retention. In the weeks leading up to finals, get some extra sleep, so you’re well-rested for finals. Oftentimes it is beneficial to get an extra hour of sleep as opposed to an extra hour of studying.

Many health products are available at low cost or free at Student Health & Wellbeing Services and at health vending machine locations:

  • Nelson Hall East (across from Goodwin Forum)
  • Gutswurrak Student Activities Center (1st floor by Depot)
  • Jolly Giant Commons (3rd floor next to Housing Cashier)
  • College Creek Mail Room Lobby
  • Creekview Dorm Lounge

Vending machines contain items like: rapid covid tests, emergency contraception, cold/flu supplies, condoms, tampons, pregnancy tests, bandages, pain relief, toiletries, and free Narcan & fentanyl test strips.

The Learning Center is available for all your academic needs, offering engineering, math, science, and general tutoring, as well as a writing studio and workshops on a variety of academic skills. See all the free services at learning.humboldt.edu.

Get ahead of your stress with a study plan. Schedule times for studying, eating, exercise, and even free time. By scheduling everything, including rest or meal breaks, you can manage your time and productivity more efficiently. By scheduling breaks, you won’t feel guilty when you take one. Additionally, make a list of tasks that you want to have done by the end of a time period, and stick to crossing them off, one by one. It can be rewarding and often contributes to a feeling of accomplishment. There are a number of Library Skill Shops that can help with making study plans, and reducing stress. Learn about Skill Shops on the Library website.

There are a number of campus events to help you de-stress and find success.
