HSU anthropology students and lecturer Hermine Amoussou of Benin will host an evening of authentic African food and music to raise funds for the education of orphaned children in Ivory Coast in West Africa on Sat., May 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Bayside Grange, 2297 Jacoby Creek Road, Bayside.
Freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students enrolled in Ms. Amoussou’s “Anthropology 306: Peoples of Africa” course are organizing the dinner and will assist Ms. Amoussou in preparing and cooking a variety of indigenous African dishes.
Dinner will be served to the accompaniment of native African melodies and reservations are required by Thurs., May 10, by calling 707/498-9780.
Dinner prices are $25.00 for adults and children aged 10 and up. They are $10.00 for children under 10. Raffle tickets will be on sale at $5.00 each or five tickets for $20.00. Prizes will include a unique African’tapestry, African masks and fabrics, and other objets d’art.
The event is sponsored by the Consortium for Education and Technology (CET), a local non-profit organization.
