The vote also includes a proposal to redistribute IRA funds between four programs; the Humboldt Energy Independence Fund, the JackPass, the student-lead IRA Committee, which distributes funds among 35 student programs, and Athletics.
Effectively Athletics would get a smaller increase, which allows JackPass to realize a larger increase. Stabilizing the IRA Fee and increasing the JackPass’s share will allow the IRA programs to maintain their high quality and place the programs on a sustainable path.
Presently the IRA fee is increased each year by an inflation rate. A yes vote on the referendum would eliminate the inflation-based increase and institute a series of increases over the next four years to achieve a sustainable level of funding.
Voting will be conducted online at Humboldt State homepage. On the homepage, click on Quick Links and then the link for Account Center.
