“Giving Day showcases the incredible generosity and dedication of our Cal Poly Humboldt community and the teamwork of the campus groups. The support the University receives directly impacts our students, providing them with opportunities that shape their future success," says Stephanie Lane, executive director of Alumni Relations.
This year’s Giving Day featured an impressive $125,000 in matching donations from alumni, emeritus professors and faculty, parents and family, and community members, amplifying the impact of every contribution. Seventy-eight campus groups united for an inspiring fundraising effort, marking the highest participation in Giving Day's history.
This year, some of the biggest successes included the Journalism department raising $5,045 to support student-run media, storytelling projects, and travel for award-winning Journalism & Mass Communication students as they present at California media conferences. Cal Poly Humboldt’s TRiO Upward Bound exceeded its fundraising goal to continue to support thousands of local high school students in gaining access to colleges and universities. The Women’s Triathlon team raised more than $18,000 to support student-athletes compete, train, and thrive in this fast-growing NCAA sport.
Alumni, families, faculty and staff, and friends of the University all played a role in ensuring students have the resources they need to thrive. Gifts from Giving Day help fund scholarships, research opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, and student support programs.
Last year, Giving Day raised $325,000 with 1,405 donors contributing to 126 campus programs. This year’s success builds on that momentum, further strengthening opportunities for students at Cal Poly Humboldt.
While Giving Day may be over, the opportunity to support Cal Poly Humboldt students continues year-round. Anyone can make a lasting impact by donating at giving.humboldt.edu.
