Water service on the Humboldt State University campus was restored at 7:30 a.m. today, following a short outage caused by an overturned fire hydrant.
The hydrant, located on South Rossow Street near Plant Operations, was hit at about 7 a.m. by an HSU bus being driven by a student. The driver had apparently been trying to get past construction fencing and parked construction vehicles. There was no serious damage or any injuries.
In order to make repairs, water to the entire campus had to be shut off. It was restored before most students, faculty and staff arrived for the day.
