Cal Poly Humboldt will honor its newest graduates at Fall Commencement on Friday, Dec. 19, marking a day of celebration, reflection, and promise.

Two ceremonies will take place in Lumberjack Arena: the first at 1 p.m. for graduates in the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences and the College of Professional Studies, followed by a 3:30 p.m. ceremony for the College of Natural Resources & Sciences. Nearly 300 students are expected to cross the stage.

This year’s ceremonies highlight inspiring students, including Eduardo Cruz, a senior Biology major and president of Associated Students, who has become a powerful advocate for students on campus and statewide. He has represented Humboldt in the CSU Presidential Search and the Cal State Student Association, always striving to uplift students from small communities and amplify their voices to help shape the future of the CSU.

Joining him is CSU Trustee Carson Fajardo, a Master of Public Administration student at CSU San Bernardino. Fajardo brings a strong record of student-centered leadership—from increasing Associated Students, Incorporated resources by more than $1 million to championing major campus initiatives. His work across housing, student government, and now the CSU Board of Trustees reflects his deep commitment to expanding opportunities through public service and philanthropy.

Family, friends, and supporters can watch the celebrations from anywhere. Both ceremonies will be livestreamed at humboldt.edu in both English and Spanish. Recordings will be available on the Commencement website the following week.

The University is implementing new safety measures to ensure a smooth event. Starting this December, all large campus events, including Commencement, will follow new clear bag guidelines. Bags larger than 8.5” x 6” must be clear (made of transparent plastic, vinyl, or PVC), while small opaque wallets or clutches that meet the size requirement are allowed. Medically necessary items, diaper bags, and strollers will be accommodated but will require inspection. Opaque bags like backpacks and large purses will not be permitted inside the venue. Students may also take the Graduation Pledge of Social & Environmental Responsibility, a Humboldt tradition since 1987 that has now spread to more than 100 universities worldwide. In support of the University's sustainability goals and the long-standing graduation pledge, this year’s program will be offered in a fully electronic format, continuing Humboldt’s tradition of innovative, environmentally conscious practices. Find the electronic program here

Graduates are invited to join Forever Humboldt, the University’s alumni and friends association, for free lifelong benefits including Library access, career support, local discounts, and special events.
