The event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
More than 130 students and faculty presentations from HSU’s three colleges will be showcased, including poster presentations, film screenings, music and theater performances, and more.
Projects and presentations cover a wide swath of academic topics across disciplines, ranging from feminist interpretations of women’s work in Tonga by Meleana Akolo, an anthropology graduate student, to oceanography undergraduate Jessica Solomon’s presentation on issues affecting phytoplankton along the California coast. Solomon’s project done in collaboration with Claire Till, a professor of chemistry at HSU, highlights the hands-on experience and close working experience students get from Humboldt State faculty.
Posters will be on display from noon to 3 p.m. and the formal reception begins at 3 p.m.
IdeaFest participants have the opportunity to submit their work to the Humboldt Digital Scholar
a digital archive of student, staff, and faculty scholarship, and publish their projects in the ideaFest journal.
