By the end of Giving Day, the Computer Science Club raised about 94% of their fundraising goal, helping students to host larger, more impactful events like the Hackathon for Social Good, where students develop projects that directly benefit local nonprofits and charities.
In a powerful show of community support for students, Cal Poly Humboldt’s fourth annual Giving Day raised $349,167 in just 24 hours.

With contributions from 1,186 donors, Giving Day provided critical funding for 138 campus clubs, programs, departments, and scholarships, directly enhancing student success.

“Giving Day is a powerful reflection of what makes Cal Poly Humboldt so special: A community that shows up for our students in meaningful and generous ways,” says Annual Giving Coordinator Marie Forrest-Murray. “We are deeply grateful for every gift, which directly expands opportunity and helps students succeed, both during their time at Humboldt and beyond.”

This year’s Giving Day included $123,775 in matching gifts from alumni, faculty, families, and community supporters, amplifying the impact of every donation. A total of 77 campus groups participated in the Giving Day crowdfunding page

Several programs saw notable success during the campaign. At the close of Giving Day, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Rou Dalagurr: Food Sovereignty Lab & Traditional Ecological Knowledges Institute exceeded its fundraising goal and raised nearly $30,000 to continue supporting research grounded in Indigenous input, Native youth leadership, and strengthening food sovereignty across communities.

The Computer Science Club raised $940 of their $1,000 goal, helping students to host larger, more impactful events like the Hackathon for Social Good, where students develop projects that directly benefit local nonprofits and charities. The Wildlife Graduate Student Society raised 95% of its goal, helping Wildlife graduate students offset the cost of presenting at conferences, attending professional events, and purchasing essential lab and field supplies through small grants.

Support from alumni, families, faculty, staff, and friends of the University ensures students have access to the resources they need to thrive. Giving Day contributions help fund scholarships, research opportunities, hands-on learning experiences, and student support programs that make a lasting difference.

This year’s Giving Day raised over $45,000 more than last year, building on the momentum from 2025 when Giving Day raised $303,390 from 1,172 donors supporting 121 campus programs.

While Giving Day has ended, the opportunity to support Cal Poly Humboldt students continues year-round, and crowdfunding pages will remain open for another week. Make a gift at giving.humboldt.edu/giving-day
