Humboldt State University’s First Street Gallery presents Made in Greece: An Exhibition of Works from the 2010 HSU Summer Art Program from Oct. 2 through Nov. 7. This exhibition consists of works made by Humboldt State students and their instructors during their studies in Greece this past summer. Based in Affisoss, a beachside village on Greece’s Pelion Peninsula, the program mixed intensive studio classes in painting and drawing with intermittent excursions to important historical, archeological and cultural destinations, ranging across the country of Greece.

Humboldt State University’s Reese Bullen Gallery hosts _Banned and Recovered: Artists Intervention_, a travelling exhibition of works by 37 artists, presented by California Exhibition Resources Alliance (CERA) and funded by the James Irvine Foundation.

_Arcata From Dawn Till Dusk_ is the only film from the United States in an international series called The World From Dawn Till Dusk. The nine short films from eight countries, including Russia, China and Iran, will have their official premiere next year in Poland. But the Arcata film, created at HSU, gets a local sneak preview on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Van Duzer Theatre.

A Faculty and Staff Exhibition showcasing the talent of the artists who teach and work in Humboldt State University’s Art Department will be featured at Humboldt State University First Street Gallery in Old Town, Eureka. The exhibit will run Aug. 24 through Sept. 19.

The Humboldt Symphony celebrates Cinco de Mayo with a popular piece by a contemporary Mexican composer and other Latin and Latin influenced orchestral works, on Friday night May 7 and Sunday afternoon May 9 at Fulkerson Recital Hall. It’s not your grandfather’s opera. No exaggerated emotions in foreign languages by heavily costumed figures standing around until the fat lady sings. On Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, the HSU Opera Workshop explores contemporary relationships with selected musical scenes and two short comic operas, including the story of a young man searching for true love at a video dating service.

In 1967 a group of students came together to bring worldly movies to Humboldt State, giving life to the Humboldt Film Festival. Now filmmakers from the across the globe vie for a top spot in the nation's oldest student-run film festival.

Inspired by the artistic potential of plywood, ink, and a steamroller, the HSU Printmakers will give Humboldt an exciting day of steamroller printing. On April 21st from 9am to 9pm at the HSU Main campus, a team of student artists will be creating several woodcut prints, led by HSU Professor Sarah Whorf. The public will have the opportunity to witness large-scale printmaking.

It’s double the music in two evenings of HSU Jazz Combos: instead of the usual three combos playing a single night, this time there are six student combos playing completely different shows over two nights.
