One in 10. That’s the estimated number of people in the United States who have a disability, and it’s a statistic that has inspired a new campaign at Humboldt State.

In 2008, when Fernando Paz was a student at Humboldt State, he was driving a group of immigrants who had been swept up in a local immigration raid. They were heading south to San Francisco to take care of legal matters. Paz remembers the mood in the car was somber—until they heard Spanish-language programs on the radio.

When students arrive at Humboldt State, they may not realize the resources that are available to help them stay healthy and well. They may not even know that they can now easily seek help on a variety of topics, from financial wellness to making friends.

More than 80 percent of seniors evaluated their HSU experience as “good” or “excellent,” and said they would “probably” or “definitely” choose HSU again, according to the results of the most recent National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

Oct. 1 marks the beginning of the priority application period for students who want to attend Humboldt State University in Fall 2018.

As a former Green Diamond Resource Company wildlife biologist and Humboldt State professor, Lowell Diller made important contributions to forest and wildlife management in Northern California during his lifetime.

Humboldt State was ranked No. 39 out of 632 master’s degree-granting universities by the national College Guide published recently by Washington Monthly magazine.

Humboldt State University is expected to receive $1 million from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to continue the University’s support of underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) majors.

A Humboldt State University program that helps local high school students enroll and succeed in higher education has been notified it will receive a grant of $1.3 million over five years from the Department of Education.

Humboldt State University has signed on to a statement of support for the principles and targets of the Paris Agreement. The letter is from mayors, governors, university leaders, and businesses from across the country.
