CSU and CFA To Announce Tentative Agreement

_The following message was provided by the California State University Chancellor's Office._ California State University and California Faculty Association leaders will hold a joint news conference call for news media to announce a tentative agreement on a reopened contract between the university administration and faculty union.

On Remote Island, Surprise Evidence of Big Tsunamis

A seemingly insignificant find has led to evidence of prehistoric tsunamis on the remote Aleutian island of Sedanka. It also raises the possibility that this section of the Aleutian subduction zone could generate a large earthquake and a powerful tsunami.

HSU Statement on Pambianco Settlement

Humboldt State University is pleased to share that a settlement has been reached in a lawsuit brought by former employee Dan Pambianco. This settlement ends a time-consuming distraction in which HSU asserts claims were false and lacked evidence.

Milton ‘Milt’ Dobkin, 1922-2016

Milt Dobkin, who taught Speech, founded the Humboldt State College forensics team, and served as Vice President of Academic Affairs, passed away on March 10 at the age of 94.

CCAA Champs! Jacks Upset No. 23 UC San Diego 80-68

STOCKTON, Calif. – Humboldt State men's basketball toppled No. 23 UC San Diego, 80-68, Saturday night in Stockton Arena to claim the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship. The victory marks the program's first conference tournament title since the 2011-12 season.

HSU Ranks No. 9 for Peace Corps Volunteers

Humboldt State University ranked No. 9 among medium schools on the agency’s 2016 Top Volunteer-Producing Colleges and Universities list. There are 25 HSU Alumni currently volunteering worldwide.

[Updated] Assault Suspect Arrested

Arcata Police have arrested Justin F. Patrick, who allegedly sexually assaulted an HSU student and assaulted an HSU staff member today. His arrest followed an intense search by both Arcata Police and University Police.

Students and faculty in HSU’s Department of Theatre, Film, & Dance won several top awards in the regional competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Denver. HSU Expands Food Access With SNAP Benefits

Humboldt State is among the country’s first universities to accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards from the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Eligible students, faculty, and staff can now use Electronic Benefits Transfer cards to purchase food at the College Creek Marketplace.

Former HSU Student Arrested for Sexual Assault

A former Humboldt State University student was arrested for a sexual assault that occurred in December 2015 in an east campus parking lot. University Police officers arrested the student on Saturday, Feb. 13. The student was booked in the Humboldt County Jail.
