Some of the day’s highlights include 1,405 donors contributing to 126 campus clubs, programs, departments, and scholarships.
For example, the new Culture Fire Club, established to center Indigenous perspectives of fire as both a means of land stewardship and as a cultural/community practice, raised funds to help purchase fire fighting equipment, fees for controlled burn training, and events for Indigenous students and local Indigenous youth. Humboldt’s Model UN program, which helps students develop leadership, public speaking, and negotiation skills, raised enough funds to provide financial support to students traveling to Model UN conferences in New York and San Francisco.
Giving Day brought together alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff to support Cal Poly Humboldt students with 1,571 gifts. This support is transforming the futures of Humboldt students.
The first $150,000 raised was matched by the Cal Poly Humboldt Foundation and members of the Foundation Board and Boldly Rising Campaign Cabinet.
Last year’s Giving Day brought together 1,003 donors and raised over $140,000 for 112 different campus clubs and programs.
Donors helped create meaningful opportunities for students on Giving Day. But anyone is welcome to support students and campus programs throughout the year by donating at giving.humboldt.edu.
