Rooted in a strong tradition of community support, Giving Day highlights the collective impact of the Humboldt network, more than 88,000 alumni and countless supporters, coming together to boost opportunity and strengthen the student experience.
“Giving Day reflects the very best of Humboldt: people coming together to support students and invest in their futures,” says Marie Forrest-Murray, Annual Giving Coordinator. “It’s inspiring to see how a community and campus, united by shared values, can create real momentum for student success in just 24 hours.”
Donors can support a range of campus programs that directly benefit students. Those programs include: student organizations like the Debate Club and Ballet Folklórico de Humboldt Club; academic areas such as the Math & Data Science Department; Athletics programs including Men’s and Women’s Track & Field; and hands-on learning environments like the Rou Dalagurr Food Sovereignty Lab & Traditional Ecological Knowledges Institute.
Scholarship support remains a central focus, with opportunities to give to funds such as the Humboldt First Scholarship, the Robin Meiggs Scholarship Endowment, and the Homer Balabanis Economics Scholarship—each helping remove financial barriers and open doors for students.
Giving Day also highlights critical student support resources like the Basic Needs Fund, which ensures students have access to essentials, including housing, food, and emergency assistance.
“Every gift tells a student that they belong here and that their goals matter,” Forrest-Murray says. “Whether it’s supporting a scholarship, a program, or basic needs, each contribution helps students move forward with confidence and possibility.”
Last year, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Giving Day demonstrated the power of this collective effort, raising $303,390 in just one day. With support from 1,172 donors, funding reached 121 campus clubs, programs, departments, and scholarships, directly improving student success.
Whatever inspires someone to give has a deep impact on students across campus.
“Together, we are building something bigger than a single day,” Forrest-Murray says. “We are strengthening a community that continues to show up for students in meaningful and lasting ways.”
