 Cal Poly Humboldt is leading an effort to expand the state’s biodiversity monitoring effort to multiple California State University (CSU) campus sites. One campus is Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, which has already established a monitoring site in Chorro Creek Ecological Reserve. There, a trail cam has captured photos of wildlife, including a mule deer, mountain lion, and gopher snake— examples of data that will be collected throughout the CSU’s network.

In response to accelerating climate change and increasing human impacts on California’s landscapes, Cal Poly Humboldt and the U.S. Geological Survey California Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit are leading a major expansion of a statewide biodiversity monitoring effort.
