Psychology Department students and faculty recently presented 24 posters, papers and an invited workshop at the Annual Western Psychological Association conference in Portland, Ore. April 24-27. The WPA meeting is the nation’s largest regional psychology conference with over 2,000 attendees this year. A total of 62 psychology students from HSU attended.

Authors Assess Evolving Cannabis Laws in Next Marijuana Research Talk

Investigative journalists Alyson Martin and Nushin Rashidian will discuss their book, A New Leaf – The End of Cannabis Prohibition, in a presentation on Monday, April 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 in the Behavioral and Social Sciences building, room 162. The event is the latest installment of the Humboldt Institute for Interdisciplinary Marijuana Research’s speaker series. It is free and open to the public.

Humboldt State’s College of eLearning and Extended Education is offering two new online degree programs in 2014: a Master of Arts in Applied Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with an option in Leadership Studies. Both programs are now accepting applications.

A Look Back at Fall 2013

Fall 2013 was a big semester for Humboldt State: the university kicked-off its Centennial year with an unforgettable celebration on the Plaza; HSU students, faculty and staff made their mark both on- and off-campus and the university continued to expand its academic offerings with new programs and majors in a variety of disciplines. The impact of rising student loans on the lifetime economic value of a college degree will be examined by a student-led panel hosted by Humboldt State University economics majors on Thursday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Native American Forum (Room 162), opposite the Behavioral and Social Sciences Building.

Former White House economics advisor Christina Romer headlines the day-long Business Summit being hosted by Humboldt State University’s School of Business on Monday, Oct. 7. The summit also features a student panel on active learning and a company executive discussion of regional business strategies.

Former White House economics advisor Christina Romer, co-architect of the Obama administration’s recovery from the 2008 recession, will analyze post-crisis monetary policy on Monday, Oct. 7, at 3:30 p.m. in Humboldt State University’s Van Duzer Theatre.
