Humboldt State University’s accounting and finance program, part of the School of Business, has been endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession.

Humboldt State University announced its Outstanding Students 2016-2017 at award ceremonies on April 14.

Shayne Sines, a senior in Liberal Studies Elementary Education, is the recipient of the 2015 CSU Trustees' Award for Outstanding Achievement. The HSU senior is earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a major that meshes with his passion for giving back. “Some of the most rewarding moments of my life are helping others to learn, and I have found that I’m good at it,” says Sines.

According to Arcata Fire District Battalion Chief Sean Campbell, it’s stress and exertion, which kills about 50 firefighters each year nationwide. “It’s not uncommon for firefighters working at a scene or just after an incident to die of a heart attack or other stress or overexertion related illness.”
