CSU Adopts Cost Saving Measures

The California State University today announced additional cost saving measures that are aimed at maintaining jobs and student access to quality programs in the midst of state budget reductions. These actions follow the system’s decision in November to limit the number of new students entering in fall 2009, due to the state’s inability to fully fund enrollment growth and operational needs.

Tsunami Group Honored for Innovation

Application Deadline Extended to March

Arcata – Humboldt State University’s Admissions Office will accept freshmen applications for Fall 2009/Spring 2010 until March 1, 2009, extending the deadline beyond the mid-January cutoff used last year. Transfer students will have until June 1 to apply.

Student Designs May Help Developing Nations

Alum Working to Implement State’s Historic Climate Bill

With the growing concern over climate change and because the lack of pre-existing federal regulations, California has struck out on its own to reduce its carbon emissions. The Golden State is known for being the country’s environmental trendsetter and is now setting the pace for carbon emissions policy with the California Climate Change Solutions Act (AB 32). AB 32 is a mandate to lower carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and to have an 80 percent reduction below 1990 levels by 2050.
