Arrest Made in Sexual Assault Case

Arcata ‐ A 24‐year‐old McKinleyville man was arrested on campus by Humboldt State University Police on Sunday, Nov. 16, for the alleged sexual assault of an 18‐year‐old Humboldt State University freshman. The crime allegedly occurred during the course of 12‐17 hours they reportedly spent together on Saturday night, Nov. 15, and the following Sunday morning.

Expanding the Culture

As she left the Latino Community Reception at the "Multicultural Center":http://studentaffairs.humboldt.edu/multicultural/ last year, Humboldt State student Gabriela Girona felt like something was missing. Girona, who is Puerto Rican and originally from upstate New York, found a broader understanding of the Latino experience in the United States lacking at Humboldt State. That sense of a missing connection prompted Girona to take action.

Greening the Eureka Waterfront

Eureka — After five years of searching the Humboldt Bay Sustainable Living Center has found a home along the Eureka waterfront, near Halverson Park. The center will feature an eco-hostel, a conference center, office space for green businesses and non-profits as well as a 100-mile café.

Alum Discovers New Mushroom Genus

In the foggy Maya Mountains of western Belize there is a salmon colored mushroom growing on the sides of fallen logs. While the mushroom has an interesting appearance, it’s notable for another reason: it represents a new genus of polypore, a group of mushrooms bearing significant medical potential.
