The Alumna Who Wrote HSU's Official Song

Fun fact: Humboldt State has an alma mater, and it was written in 1943 by an alumna named Joyce Bruner (‘45, Music Education). HSU’s “official” song, the alma mater is a piece of University music tradition that generations of students have heard, though probably without realizing what they were listening to in the first place.

Rising to Meet the Challenges of Climate Change: 9th Humboldt Bay Symposium

On April 11 and 12, the Humboldt Bay Symposium will be held at the Wharfinger Building in Eureka. This year’s symposium, “Rising to Meet the Challenges of Climate Change,” will feature sessions on sea-level rise, ecological restoration, ocean science, and proposed and ongoing economic development in and around Humboldt Bay.

HSU Student Bilingual Newspaper Wins 6 First-Place Awards

El Leñador, the student-run bilingual newspaper at Humboldt State University, won first place in six categories in the 2019 California College Media Association statewide awards competition. The awards were presented on March 2 in La Jolla. The newspaper also placed in an additional six categories.

St. Joseph Health Invests $2 Million in North Coast Nursing Program

Humboldt County — Officials from St. Joseph Health, Humboldt County (SJH-HC), Humboldt State University, College of the Redwoods, and Senator Mike McGuire announced today that St. Joseph Health is making a $2 million grant to help re-launch the RN to BSN nursing program at HSU.
